About MFD & Marshy

Music was my first love

Marshy grew up in a very musical family, surrounded by the melodies and harmonies of relatives who sang in various groups. His earliest realisation of the profound impact music would have on his life came when his cousin Bobby Gee triumphantly won the Eurovision Song Contest with Bucks Fizz in 1981. This remarkable achievement ignited Marshy's passion for pop music at a young age, filling his heart with the rhythms and excitement that only the world of music can provide. From that moment forward, he has been inspired to explore his own musical journey, drawing from the rich legacy of creativity that runs through his family.

Although never learning to play an instrument, Marshy displayed a remarkable interest in various musical equipment from a young age. His passion for music extended beyond merely listening; he was captivated by the technology and tools that brought the sounds to life. This fascination would ultimately shape his journey in the music industry.

It was during a holiday in his teenage years at a Butlins Holiday camp that an unforgettable moment occurred. A Redcoat, recognising Marshy's enthusiasm for music, allowed him access to the Disco vinyl mixing desk. This simple act not only sparked an excitement in Marshy but also opened up a world of possibilities, inspiring him to explore the art of mixing and blending tracks.

This experience at the Butlins camp was pivotal for Marshy, marking the beginning of his path in music. With the Disco mixing desk before him, he was introduced to the thrill of creating atmosphere and energy through sound, setting the stage for a lifelong journey in the realm of music production and performance.

At the age of 17, Marshy embarked on an exciting journey into the world of music by joining a friend who was running mobile discos as a DJ. It didn’t take long before he decided to venture out on his own, leading to the birth of CRM Discos. Over the years, as the mobile disco and DJ market became increasingly saturated, Marshy sought new avenues and transitioned into Community Radio. This transition marked the inception of MFD, originally known as Marshy's Friday Drivetime, where he could share his passion for music with an even broader audience.

With his fresh approach and love for broadcasting, Marshy's Friday Drivetime quickly gained popularity, enabling him to connect with listeners while showcasing diverse musical styles. After a short while and name change to MFDshow, Marshy went online and here we are!
